JON McLAUGHLIN — "A BREAK UP SONG"
Absorb. has enjoyed a long and fruitful creative relationship with modern pop artist Jon McLaughlin. Jon's music and performances always inspire us, and we're glad to have built six distinct release and touring campaigns for him, as well as multiple films and merchandise lines.
In summer 2020, Jon asked us to create the visuals for his new album THINGS I SAY TO MYSELF, which was preceded by the album's buoyant first single, "A Break Up Song." We intentionally "broke" the photo of Jon on the cover, and placed bold type atop the image to imbue a jarring feeling often associated with heartbreak. We crossed Jon out using hand-drawn charcoal scans, and slid a lyric from the song vertically on to the cover for a subtle, clinical touch.
"A Break Up Song" is available on all platforms now.
