THE BAND PERRY — "CHAINSAW" — ACM AWARDS PERFORMANCE
Multi-platinum group The Band Perry and Absorb. have collaborated on multiple successful film and conceptual projects. So, when they asked if we'd come up with a treatment for the premiere performance of their new single "Chainsaw" on the 49th Annual ACM Awards, we were thrilled -- & we knew we had to do something unforgettable!
We decided to make the mechanical parts of the chainsaw depicted in the song come wildly to life in the arena, starting with a high-impact custom film, synced very tightly to the song's rhythmic dynamic, that would play on a 26-foot tall LED screen positioned directly behind the band. Then, using pyrotechnics, confetti cannons, & lighting design, the chainsaw's effects would literally explode beyond the borders of the screen & cover the audience in smoke, sawdust, & sparks! The results yielded an incredible, exciting experience unlike anything seen on the ACM Awards before.
The performance was broadcast live from the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 6, 2014 on CBS. It set the internet ablaze with chatter, set the show off with a total bang, & garnered glowing press reviews for its energy, originality, & irreverent spirit.
