KISHI BASHI — "CAN'T LET GO JUNO"
When amazing alternative pop artist and multi-instrumentalist KISHI BASHI asked us to make a film for his track, "Can't Let Go, Juno", we were thrilled to jump in. The song's intensity and darkness evoked scenes of droning night and dead cityscapes in our minds.
The film highlights one solitary night in the life an emotionally disconnected, despondent driver-for-hire as he interacts with a diverse mosaic of passengers, each representing different functional and dyfunctional iterations of complex human relationships. Capturing both incredible performances from actors and the hazy atmosphere of the wee hours of city night, the film - like the song - adopts a surreal and hypnotic pulse. Though the driver remains unaffected by almost all of the claustrophobic, absurd situations taking place in his car, he ultimately observes an intimate and beautiful relationaship that touches his heart and gives him renewed hope in intimacy.
The video was made over the course of one intense, coffee- and adrenaline-fueled winter night with an unbelievable cast and crew in Indianapolis. The film premiered on VEVO and NPR.com on February 14, 2017, and is the first single from KISHI BASHI'S critically-acclaimed album, Sonderlust, out now on Joyful Noise Recordings.
